4:71
O you who believe, take your precautions and go forth in groups or all together.
Infers: Don’t underestimate Shaytan—know how he attacks. You are stronger when you lead your family and protect them. Think about the long-term consequences of your choices and how you live life.
4:72
And indeed, among you is he who lags behind. Then if disaster befalls you, he says, “Allah has favored me in that I was not present with them.”
Infers: A wife is one who stands by your side and supports your decisions. A bad wife is one who wants you to lead the way she desires, then blames you when things go wrong.
4:73
But if bounty comes to you from Allah, he will say, as if there had never been affection between you and him, “Oh, I wish I had been with them so I could have attained a great success.”
Infers: There will always be women who want you when you’re doing well but would want nothing to do with you if you are struggling. It is best not to start a family with someone who doesn’t want to build and is instead looking for an established man.
4:74
So let those who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter fight in the cause of Allah. And whoever fights in the cause of Allah and is killed or achieves victory—We will grant him a great reward.
Infers: Those who love materialistic things and chase everything in this dunya will always be afraid of what true sacrifice means. They will hold you back from just causes, fearing the consequences of standing for truth.
4:75
And what is [the matter] with you that you do not fight in the cause of Allah and [for] the oppressed among men, women, and children who say, “Our Lord, take us out of this city of oppressive people and appoint for us from Yourself a protector and appoint for us from Yourself a helper”?
Infers: If people like you are being held back, then who will fight for the oppressed? What will happen to the Ummah? Those who do nothing in the face of injustice are no better than the oppressors themselves.
4:76
Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who disbelieve fight in the cause of falsehood. So fight against the allies of Satan. Indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been weak.
Infers: Those with faith should always be invested in Akhirah and the goodness of the Ummah. Those who value materialism and worldly gain will always prioritize staying here. They are the cowards that hold back the Ummah..
4:77
Have you not seen those who were told, “Restrain your hands [from fighting] and establish prayer and give zakah”? But when fighting was ordained for them, at once a group of them feared men as they fear Allah or with even greater fear. They said, “Our Lord, why have You decreed upon us fighting? If only You had postponed it for us for a short time.” Say, “The enjoyment of this world is little, and the Hereafter is better for he who fears Allah. And injustice will not be done to you [even] as much as a thread [inside a date seed].”
Infers: People who are too busy for prayer and unwilling to give will always hold you back. Their priority is hoarding wealth and enjoying life. They’ll delay you having children, doing good, and standing up against injustice because their focus is this world. Deep down, they don’t truly believe in the Akhirah. Their mindset is “one life, so enjoy it while you can,” and that is what weakens the Ummah.
4:78
Wherever you may be, death will overtake you, even if you should be within towers of lofty construction. But if good comes to them, they say, “This is from Allah”; and if evil befalls them, they say, “This is from you.” Say, “All [things] are from Allah.” So what is [the matter] with those people that they can hardly understand any statement?
Infers: Avoid people who only value what is visible and ignore the unseen. They don’t understand divine wisdom and will never give credit where it’s due. Their focus is purely on material ambition, failing to acknowledge the true source of rizq.
4:79
What comes to you of good is from Allah, but what comes to you of evil is from yourself. And We have sent you, [O Muhammad], to the people as a messenger, and sufficient is Allah as Witness.
Infers: Good is a blessing earned through faith, obedience, and righteous action. The bad is often a lesson from ignorance, disobedience, or recklessness. Both come from Allah to guide you toward righteousness.
4:80
He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah, but those who turn away—we have not sent you over them as a guardian.
Infers: Obeying the Qur’an means obeying Allah. Practicing should come from sincerity, not compulsion. Faith is about conviction, not coercion.
4:81
And they say, “Obedience.” But when they leave you, a group of them spend the night contradicting what you say. But Allah records what they plan at night. So leave them alone and put your trust in Allah, and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.
Infers: Some claim to follow divine guidance, but they avoid praying and putting it into practice. Recognizing insincerity is crucial so you side with those who are going places instead of those who will always lose.
4:82
Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an? If it had been from any other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction.
Infers: Truth is consistent. The Qur’an is flawless because it is divine. If it had been man-made, it would be full of contradictions—just like the hadiths.
4:83
And when there comes to them information about [public] security or fear, they spread it around. But if they had referred it to the Messenger or to those of authority among them, then those who can extract truth from it would have known about it. And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, you would have followed Satan, except for a few.
Infers: In times like now, when the Ummah is under attack, do not look to those who profit from religion and remain silent. Instead, look towards the Qur’an and those amongst you who fear no one but Allah, who stand for justice and see past the deception.
4:84
So fight in the cause of Allah; you are not held responsible except for yourself. And encourage the believers that perhaps Allah will restrain the might of those who disbelieve. And Allah is greater in might and stronger in punishment.
Infers: At times like this, do what you know is right. Hold yourself accountable. Lead by example and guide those around you. Trust that Allah will take care of the rest. Do not fear the naysayers, for Allah’s power is far greater than theirs.
4:85
Whoever intercedes for a good cause will have a share in its reward, and whoever intercedes for an evil cause will have a share in its burden. And Allah is over all things a Keeper.
Infers: Nothing is easy, but Islam is innate in us. Those who go against the grain and see past the deception will be rewarded for their role in exposing it. Just as those who stay silent—especially those who profit from religion—will bear the burden of siding with the opposition.
4:86
And when you are greeted with a greeting, respond with a better greeting or return it [in kind]. Indeed, Allah is ever, over all things, an Accountant.
Infers: When you’re on the path to breaking the deception, understand that many are still trapped in illusion. Be patient, guide them, and help them see the truth.
4:87
Allah—there is no deity except Him. He will surely assemble you for [account on] the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. And who is more truthful than Allah in statement?
Infers: If you are following only the Quran, how can you have any doubt? Allah is the sole authority, and His words are the ultimate truth. Stay firm—there is no failure in obeying divine guidance.
4:88
So what is [the matter] with you that you are two groups concerning the hypocrites, while Allah has made them fall back [into error] for what they earned? Do you wish to guide those whom Allah has led astray? And he whom Allah leads astray—never will you find for him a way.
Infers: Those who are open to the idea are great. Those who have already joined the mission—even better. But those who refuse and argue—it’s just not worth wasting time on them. Inshallah, they’ll find their way, but focus on those who are seeking the truth and asking questions.
4:89
They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take them as allies unless they emigrate for the cause of Allah. But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper.
Infers: There will always be those who cling to Hadith and worship what the scholars say. But if they’re not of our creed, if they don’t live by the one book, are they really capable of moving the Ummah forward, or are they just braindead?
4:90
Except for those who take refuge with a people between yourselves and whom is a treaty, or those who come to you with hearts unwilling to fight you or their own people. And if Allah had willed, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you. So if they remove themselves from you and do not fight you and offer you peace, then Allah has not made for you a cause [for fighting] against them.
Infers: Not everyone is your enemy. Some people just don’t have the backbone to take a side. They will watch from the sidelines, hoping to stay out of the fight. If they don’t actively stand against you, don’t waste your energy on them. Focus on those who are either with you or against you—neutrality is not worth your time.
4:91
You will find others who wish to obtain security from you and security from their people. Every time they are returned to [the influence of] disbelief, they fall back into it. So if they do not withdraw from you or offer you peace or restrain their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them. And against them We have given you a clear authority.
Infers: There are those who claim neutrality, but in reality, they play both sides. They want the benefits of being with you but have no real loyalty. When tested, they always go back to their old ways. If they aren’t willing to truly stand with you, cut them off. You don’t need people who flip sides when things get tough.
4:92
It is not for a believer to kill another believer, except by mistake. And whoever kills a believer by mistake must free a believing slave and pay compensation to the family of the deceased, unless they forgive. But if the deceased was from a people at war with you and was a believer, then only freeing a believing slave is required. And if he was from a people with whom you have a treaty, then compensation must be paid to his family along with freeing a believing slave. But whoever cannot find one must fast for two consecutive months as repentance before Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
Infers: Do not harm your fellow believers in business, whether intentionally or unintentionally. If you make a mistake or cause harm, take responsibility and make amends. Ethical business means prioritizing fairness, honouring agreements, and ensuring that any damage caused is properly compensated. True success comes with integrity, not by undercutting or exploiting others.
4:93
And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him and has cursed him and has prepared for him a great punishment.
Infers: Treachery and backstabbing those you are in business or partnership with will not go unpunished. Violating trust is a grave sin. Profits gained through deception, fraud, or dishonesty will carry no blessings.
4:94
O you who have believed, when you go forth in the cause of Allah, investigate; and do not say to one who gives you a greeting of peace, “You are not a believer,” aspiring for the goods of worldly life; for with Allah are many acquisitions. You yourselves were like that before; then Allah conferred His favor upon you, so investigate. Indeed, Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted.
Infers: Do not dismiss small businesses or independent traders because they lack financial strength. Everyone starts somewhere, and supporting fellow Muslims in business strengthens the entire Ummah. If profit is your only concern while others struggle, that is greed, not righteousness. True success is building together, not just for yourself.
4:95
Not equal are those believers remaining [at home]—other than the disabled—and the mujahideen, who strive in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has favored the mujahideen with their wealth and lives over those who remain [behind] by degrees. And to both, Allah has promised good. But Allah has preferred the mujahideen over those who remain [behind] with a great reward.
Infers: True success isn’t just about personal gain—it’s about uplifting the Ummah. Those who sacrifice their own profit to ensure others succeed are the real builders of the community. Playing it safe and thinking only about your own wealth is not true righteousness; growth comes from lifting others with you.
4:96
They have varying degrees [of honor] with Him, and forgiveness and mercy. And Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.
Infers: In pursuit of uplifting the Ummah, those who make the sacrifices needed and take on the challenges will be given far greater reward than just success in the dunya.
4:97
Indeed, those whom the angels take [in death] while wronging themselves – [the angels] will say, “In what [condition] were you?” They will say, “We were oppressed in the land.” They [the angels] will say, “Was not the earth of Allah spacious [enough] for you to emigrate therein?” For those, their refuge is Hell – and evil it is as a destination.
Infers: Those who only look out for themselves and refuse to recognize the oppression we face—whether financial or societal—will pay the price for their inaction. If you are given blessings but fail to take the necessary risks to uplift the Ummah and work for a greater purpose, you are failing your duty.
4:98
Except for the oppressed among men, women, and children who have no means or direction to find a way out.
Infers: Some lack the means, guidance, or opportunity to change their situation. That is why you must help where you can to improve their circumstances.
4:99
For them, it is hoped that Allah will pardon them, for Allah is ever Pardoning and Forgiving.
Infers: Those unable to take risks to bring change should still support however they can, as Allah knows their struggles and their limitations.
4:100
And whoever emigrates for the cause of Allah will find on the earth many alternatives and abundance. And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger and then death overtakes him—his reward has already been secured with Allah. And Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Infers: Those who escape the traps of big cities and take the risk to build self-sufficient communities will be rewarded for their vision and sacrifice. Uplifting the Ummah requires action, and those who step up will find new opportunities and blessings waiting for them.
4:101
And when you travel throughout the land, there is no blame upon you for shortening the prayer, if you fear that those who disbelieve may harm you. Indeed, the disbelievers are ever to you a clear enemy.
Infers: Sometimes, breaking free from the system requires stepping outside the usual path. Taking necessary but temporary measures to escape the trap can be a means to establishing self-sufficiency and building a stronger community.
4:102
And when you are among them and lead them in prayer, let a group of them stand with you and keep their weapons. Then when they have prayed, let them withdraw to the rear and let another group come forward who has not yet prayed, and let them pray with you, keeping their precautions and their weapons. Those who disbelieve wish you would neglect your weapons and belongings so they could launch a surprise attack on you. But there is no blame upon you if you lay down your weapons when overcome by rain or illness, but take your precautions. Indeed, Allah has prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment.
Infers: When you break free, do not just focus on your own success—help others do the same. Escape the traps of big cities and oppressive systems. This is not just an individual mission, but a collective effort. Self-sufficiency is a weapon to fight back against those who keep people dependent. But do not expect anything on this path to be easy—always expect doubt and resistance from those who fear change.
4:103
And when you have completed the prayer, remember Allah while standing, sitting, or lying down. But when you are secure, re-establish regular prayer. Indeed, prayer has been prescribed for the believers at set times.
Infers: When you start your communities, establish mosques and make Islamic values a priority. It is never just about success—it is about realizing what is truly important and why we are here. Without prayer, we have nothing. It is the foundation that keeps everything together.
4:104
And do not weaken in pursuit of the enemy. If you suffer, they suffer as you suffer, but you expect from Allah that which they do not expect. And Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
Infers: Breaking free from oppressive systems is never easy. Muslims should expect hardship but also the favour of Allah. The enemy has no greater purpose—they only act for themselves.
